We Need Wigs

Authoradmin / Posted OnOctober 27, 2022Edit

Hello,

Some of you may remember that I was asking for Christmas gifts for Main Street Terrace a few years ago. I had an amazing experience, receiving more gifts than I thought possible. This year I am at the Seniors Centre at North York General Hospital and I would once again like to ask for your help. We need about a dozen wigs of various colours. As you can see in the pictures below, some of the residents have had a tough time and do not have any family member who will help them out. Their wigs are falling apart and desperately need to be replaced. If you think you can help out or need more information, please contact me at yvonne.burton@nygh.on.ca. Please be aware that I cannot accept any cash gifts.

Here is an Amazon Wishlist that may be of help. Any one of these wigs would be great.

The wigs will automatically be sent to NYGH Seniors Centre.

Thanks very much.

Yvonne.

Hello All,

I would first like to once again thank all the extraordinarily generous neighbours, businesses, students, children, volunteers and complete strangers who opened their hearts and donated an incredible amount to our Adopt A Senior program last Christmas.  Your generosity was much more than I ever imagined.

Secondly, I would like to give you all an update about our plans for this Christmas.

Lately, I have been receiving emails and texts enquiring about how people can donate once again this year.  Unfortunately, this is not turning out to be a normal year.  Covid has dominated our Long-Term Care Homes and has made it very difficult to operate in normal user mode.  Everything we do has been changed by Covid.  Our building is not allowing any visitors and family relatives have been regulated to phone calls only.  This would make it very difficult for us to accept donations this year.  Our Christmas plans will be a little more somber but will still be as positive as possible.  We actually have many items left over from last year’s drive.

Again, please accept my heartfelt gratitude for all your time and effort, and please rest assured that our residents will have a very fine Christmas.

Thank you all for your understanding and happy holidays to each and every one.

Hello everyone. We have come to the end of our Adopt A Senior Christmas Drive. A huge thanks to everyone for all their help. The number of donations that we received greatly exceeded our expectations. We want to thank everyone who donated, volunteered to work with our residents, spread the word by telling their friends or sharing our posts, and people who emailed us just to wish us well, it all mattered. We are now officially at the end of our Christmas drive. Anyone can still make donations anytime directly to Main Street Terrace at 77 Main Street. Thank you one and all!!!

Hello;

Welcome to Adopt A Senior.

It’s that time of year again and we are looking to our community to help us with a gift drive for the seniors in our home.  Through generous donations, we are able to bring a little happiness into the lives of many of our seniors.

My name is Yvonne Burton and I work at Main Street Terrace, 77 Main Street, a Seniors home located in the Main and Kingston Road area of Toronto.  I am writing this to encourage support from our community to assist us in providing a happy Christmas to our residents. In order to assist us with this quest, we have started our Adopt A Senior program.

This year we are focused on raising money and gifts to provide the best possible Christmas for our residents.  150 gift bags will need to be donated or purchased for our annual Christmas party plus 150 gifts for Christmas morning.  For residents with no family, we purchase extra clothing.

All cheques should be made payable to Resident Benefit Account.

We need your help.

We are looking for gifts that are suitable for seniors.  Items such as those listed below, or any cash donations would help immensely.  We are looking at December 05, 2019, as the deadline for submitting your gift.

Please consider that some of our most vulnerable are hoping for a wonderful Christmas season.  With your help, we can make this happen.

If you happen to live in the community, we at Main Street Terrace are having a silent auction on November 02, 2019, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm to help raise funds for our Christmas drive. Maybe we’ll see you there.

Thank you to everyone for looking at our Adopt A Senior web page. We wish you and your family a very happy holiday.
